Chelsea Sign Cole Palmer from Manchester City

Seven-Year Contract for Young English Midfielder

149344000 Transactions | Sep 7, 2023

Chelsea Football Club has completed the signing of Cole Palmer from Manchester City on a seven-year contract, effective September 7, 2023. The transfer fee was undisclosed, but sources within the club suggest it was around 175512000. Palmer becomes Chelsea's second major signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrival of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City earlier this month.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has been a key player for Manchester City's development squad in recent seasons. He made his senior debut for the club in September 2021 and has since gone on to make 15 appearances for the Premier League champions. Palmer is a highly rated prospect and is regarded as one of the best young players in England.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is excited about adding Palmer to his squad. He said: "Cole is a very talented player and we are delighted to have him here at Chelsea. He is a versatile player who can play in a number of positions in midfield and attack, which will give us great options on the pitch."

Palmer is also pleased to be joining Chelsea. He said: "I am very happy to join Chelsea. This is a big club with a great history and I am looking forward to playing my part in the team's success." Palmer will wear the No. 15 shirt for Chelsea.

The signing of Palmer is further evidence of Chelsea's commitment to building a young and talented squad. With an average age of just 25, Chelsea have one of the youngest squads in the Premier League. However, the club also has a proven track record of success, winning five major trophies in the past five years.

Chelsea's next match is a Premier League fixture against Manchester City on Saturday, September 10.
