North Carolina QB Max Johnson to Return Next Year After Season-Ending Injury

Johnson suffered a season-ending injury in October.

North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Max Johnson will return to the team next season after suffering a season-ending injury in October, according to a report from The Athletic. Johnson was injured in UNC's game against Duke on Oct. 15 and has not played since.

Johnson was a key part of UNC's offense before his injury.

Johnson, a transfer from LSU, started the first seven games of the season for the Tar Heels. He threw for 1,581 yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions in those games.

The Tar Heels struggled after Johnson's injury.

After Johnson's injury, UNC went 1-4 in its final five games of the regular season. The Tar Heels finished the season with a 6-7 record and missed out on a bowl game.
